BOYBAND McFly set hearts a flutter when they came to Liverpool to film an episode of hit teen soap-favourite Hollyoaks.

The pop sensations are to make a surprise cameo appearance in the Channel 4 show in May.

The boys’ Hollyoaks debut saw them perform in the band night arranged by Justin Burton, played by actor Chris Fountain.

Viewers will see the chart-toppers take to the SU Bar stage along with resident musicians Josh Ashworth, played by Sonny Flood, and newcomer Hayley Ramsey, played by Kelly-Marie Stewart.

McFly frontman Tom Fletcher discovers true love was failing to blossom between Justin and Hannah Ashworth (Emma Rigby) and the singer takes it upon himself to intervene.

Fans have to wait until next month to watch the guest spot and find out whether Tom’s advice falls on deaf ears.

Series producer Lucy Allan said she was delighted to have the foursome at the Lime Pictures studios in Childwall.

She said: “The McFly boys were great to have on set and they all worked really hard.

“They caused a bit of a stir amongst the female crew as well.”

The group are made up of lead singer and guitarist Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd.

Bassist Dougie Poynter has followed in the footsteps of his pop singer girlfriend Frankie Sandford by appearing in Hollyoaks.

Saturdays star Frankie and her bandmates, who released a cover of'Just Can't Get Enough for Comic Relief this year, filmed a stint for E4 spin-off show Hollyoaks Later last year.

McFly also released a charity song for Comic Relief.

In 2005 they had success with a double A-side release of You've Got a Friend, originally by Carole King, and All About You.

The boys, who found fame as teenagers in 2004, have secured 16 consecutive top 20 singles, including seven hits which reached the top chart position.

They saw their self-penned debut album, Room on the 3rd Floor, go double platinum, giving them the title of the youngest British band ever to have an album debut at number one – a title they took from The Beatles. McFly also starred with American actress Lindsay Lohan in the box office hit, Just My Luck. McFly will kick off their latest tour, called the Up Close ... And This Time It's Personal tour, with support from American Idol runner up David Archuleta later this month.

Real or Fiction?

from: md @ 22 Mar 2009 0 comments
So .. It's been going around that Tom has finally popped the question and got himself engaged, well, we've got an article off the Mirror.co.uk explaining that as well as the others boys' relationship status:

I hear McFly singer Danny Jones has decided Miss England winner Laura Coleman is not his Star Girl after all. Friends of the cute boy band star tell me Danny ended their four-month affair last week. Cheeky Danny was accused of kissing the beauty queen while still with ex-girlfriend Olivia Shaw - ending that romance. Now he's back on the singles scene.

But who will Dan go on the pull with? Bandmate Harry Judd is dating Escala star Izzy Johnston, Dougie Poynter is withpop babe Frankie Sandford from The Saturdays and Tom Fletcher is engaged to actress Giovanna Falcone. Microwave meal for one, Danny?

Pop rockers McFly have been confirmed as the star act of this year’s Castle Concerts, Yourmedway reports.

The quartet – famed for hits such as Five Colours in Her Hair, Obviously and That Girl – will rock Rochester Castle Gardens on Friday July 17.

Jools Holland and his rhythm and blues orchestra return for their seventh appearance at the outdoor concerts, which will once again be brought to a close by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

The four-night run will be opened by Rolling Stones tribute band The Counterfeit Stones.

A host of Medway’s talented up-and-coming singers and bands will also take to the stage, performing on Sunday July 19’s summer showcase.

McFLY in Hollyoaks

from: md @ 14 Mar 2009 0 comments

Boyband McFly are to make a cameo appearance in an episode of Hollyoaks, DS can exclusively reveal.

Little is known about their guest spot, but they follow in the footsteps of girlband The Saturdays, who filmed a stint for E4 spin-off show Hollyoaks Later at the end of last year.

A Hollyoaks source told DS: "We've yet to finalise all the details yet, but we hope that they'll be singing one of their classics."

The foursome are due to film at the soap's studios within the next few weeks and will make their screen cameo at some point in May.

McFly kick off their 'Up Close...And This Time It's Personal' tour with support from David Archuleta next month.

The group have secured sixteen Top 20 singles and five Top 10 albums since first finding fame in 2004.

Added Australia Shows

from: md @ 21 Feb 2009 0 comments
McFly’s return to Australia in 2009 is proving to be one of the most anticipated events of the year.
With all tickets to their February 27 Metro Theatre gig already sold out, these UK lads have confirmed a second performance on Sunday 15 March. To date, every headline show McFly have announced in Australia has sold out and their new Metro Theatre date will be no exception.
We’ve tried time and again to introduce McFly to a new Australian audience, but every time we’ve announced a show it’s sold out in a snap. If you get in fast enough this time around, March 15 will be the day you fully realize the wonder of McFly: the UK’s best kept secret.

McFly first found fame as teenagers in 2004, as the quartet’s debut album achieved double-platinum status in their homeland - beating The Beatles to the title of youngest British band ever to debut at #1. Like all great guitar groups, McFly make rock music pinned on pop melodies.

Five years after they formed, still at the average age of only 22, McFly took the bold step of leaving the major label they used to call home, setting up their own self-financed indie label, Super Records, and releasing their fifth studio album Radio:ACTIVE, independently.

McFly mix their love of vintage rock with a British twist on the modern punk-pop sound they share with American acts such as Green Day, Blink 182 and Fall Out Boy. Like the songs on the album, the band is bursting with energy every second they’re on stage.

Please visit frontiertouring.com for pre-sale details. Tickets on sale Monday 23 February.

McFLY passing on advice

from: md @ 14 Feb 2009 0 comments
"THE Saturdays' Frankie Sandford says she took advice about their Comic Relief single from her pop star boyfriend Dougie Poynter.

Dougie, 21, and his band McFly, released their single All About You for Red Nose Day in 2005 and singer Frankie admits Dougie gave her tips on how to make The Saturdays' song hit the spot.

Frankie, 20, said: "McFly did a good job and got really involved when they released a song for Red Nose Day, and Dougie and I talked about it, absolutely.

"We discussed how it's normal to want to get involved with things, and give it your best. We feel the same and just want to do our bit."
