Maths student appears alongside McFly
By Tina Robins »
CRUDWELL student Paul Bailey has become a bit of a celebrity in school after landing a role in this year’s official Children in Need Christmas single from McFly.
The 17-year-old, who is currently studying for his A Levels at Malmesbury School, features in the video for "Do Ya" opening presents containing members of the band.
Paul, who has done part time work as an extra since he was 12, is not even studying drama. He gave it up after his GCSEs and now his exam subjects are biology, maths, further maths and music.
He said: "They were fantastic days work. As an extra you’re at the bottom of the pile. But this was completely different."
A veteran of background shots and walk on roles in shows like Coronation Street and Midsomer Murders, he followed his father David into the business.
"He was coming back home with all these stories and I thought it would be pretty good. I have been watching Coronation Street since I was little and to be on it is surreal."
But he added: "It is difficult because I am still at school so I’m not available every week."
However his career as a thespian stepped up a notch when he got a call from his agent in Bristol asking if he was free for a casting for a part in a music video.
Shortly before his mum Lesley drove him to the studios he found out it was for McFly. After chatting with the director about his experience he got a call to say he had the part – and that the brief had changed from a happy family Christmas scene to include a horde of gatecrashing zombies.
The part was for a teenage boy who rushes with his sister to open parcels under the family Christmas tree and finds members of McFly grinning up at him.
Two intense days of filming followed, from 8am to midnight each day. But he loved every minute of it.
"I am regretting not doing drama for A Level," said Paul, who plans to study maths at university.

Another tour over .. |
| from: md @ 02 Dec 2008 0 comments |
Here is a blog post from Mr. Fletcher on the McFLY Space:
Well, the radio:ATIVE tour 2008 is over and I just wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone that came to see us. I think we all feel it has been the best tour we have been on so far and we enjoyed every single show (despite being ill for the middle ones).
It's only when we're on stage hearing you guys singing our songs back to us that we get a sense of how much we have achieved over the past 5 years and we hope we will be doing it for many more years to come. And it's even more amazing to think that we've gone this whole year without a record label and we've still managed to get from writing songs in our bedrooms to playing them at Wembley...well we couldn't have done it without you guys so cheers!
Anyways, the Christmas decorations are going up bit by bit in McFLY village and we're all getting ready for seeing friends and family and having a nice holiday.
Stay safe
Tom x

Radio:Active Tour Summary |
| from: md @ 26 Nov 2008 0 comments |

McFly started with a bang - quite literally - with One For The Radio the opening soundtrack to a pyrotechnic-packed performance.
Tracks from latest album Radio: Active featured heavily, but the excited crowd was still treated to a handful of old favourites, including Obviously and Room On The Third Floor.
Edgy rock number Corrupted showed McFly could give the likes of Lostprophets a run for their money, while Everybody Knows proved the band haven't abandoned their power-pop roots.
Monstrous set closer The Last Song showed the group's appreciation for Queen remains strong.
Before leaving with a cranked up version of Five Colours In Her Hair, they praised the crowd and promised to be back next year.

GMTV Questions w/McFLY |
| from: md @ 26 Nov 2008 0 comments |
The boys have been back on GMTV with new single 'Do Ya' in aid of Children In Need. Whilst they took a quick break we grabbed them for an interview and asked them some of the burning questions you've been sending in. Here's what they had to say...
GM.TV: Welcome to GM.TV McFly! Here's our first question:
Molly: You probably get this a lot but before you decided to be called McFly what did each of you want to call the band? And if you could change the name what would you be called instead?
Danny: I would have called it Danny and his friends (They all start to laugh)
Meg Green: Hi guys, first off the tour was amazing, best one yet! Anyways, I wanna know what made you decide to cover a Michael Jackson song for the tour?
Tom: We just wanted to do something different. We really like the song.
Dougie: It was Harry's idea I think?
GM.TV: Is that true?
Harry: Yep it was! I pretty much inspire the band and most of the decisions they make.
Ilovemcfly: Hey! What's the most exotic country you discovered you had fans in?
Tom: Brazil I think and Australia!
GM.TV: We've had a lot of emails from fans in Brazil.
Harry: I think we also have some in New Zealand.
Kaylee: Hi, are you going to be doing a McFly film?
GM.TV: Because you've done one already with Lindsay Lohan? Isn't that right Harry?
Harry: Yes that one was epic!
(They all start to laugh)
Tom: That was just a random opportunity that came up. We didn't go out seeking to be in a film. But if the right opportunity came up again we'd consider it.
Jones' Bad Eye: What's your favourite song at the moment?
Harry and Dougie start singing Alesha Dixon's song 'The Boy Does Nothing", at which point they all start to laugh
Harry: I also love that Same Difference song!
Cat: What's the best part of your career so far?
Harry: Discovering me!
Tom (laughs): Yeah, discovering Harry!
Megan: Hey guys. What is the sweetest or most generous thing a fan has ever done for you?
Danny: A girl threw her bra onto the stage with her number, but I left it behind!
Tom: That's very generous!
Sarah: It was my birthday yesterday and I went to see McFly in Sheffield for my present. I was wondering what Dougie is doing for his birthday?
Dougie: We're playing at Liverpool the night before so I think I'm just going to stay up until midnight.
Harry: So you're going to have a hangover aren't you?
Tom: Yeah he'll be hungover!
GM.TV: How old are you going to be?
Dougie: I'm going to be 36
GMTV: You look very good for your age!
Dougie: Thank you!
Harry: He's not really. He's going to be 20!
Dougie: No I'm not! I'm going to be 21!
Gemma P: If you could be another celebrity for the day, who would you be?
Danny: The Queen!
GMTV: Why would you want to be the Queen?
Harry: Would you shower if you were the Queen?
Danny: I'd have a big bath, get naked and say (Put's a posh high voice on) "Oh Charlie boy" (Switches back to his normal voice) Is that his name?
Tom: Yes, Charles is her son!
Danny: (Put's the voice back on) "Oh Charlie, can you make me a cup of tea?"
They all start to laugh
GM.TV: So you just want to be the Queen so you can order around Prince Charles?
Danny: Yeah, and tell everyone else what to do!
Clairesy Lou: What is your favourite thing about touring?
Tom: Food!
GMT.V: Do you have any diva demands?
Tom: No, but at the moment we've got a lot of cold and flu remedies backstage as we've all got colds!

| from: md @ 26 Nov 2008 0 comments |

POP sensations McFly brought some early Christmas cheer to youngsters at Yorkhill Hospital.
The band, who played the SECC last night, switched on the Christmas tree lights and chatted to young patients in the physiotherapy department.
Alexander MacGregor, 12, was delighted to meet the band. "It's really great they're doing this", his mother Joanne said. "Alex has been in the hospital for two years now, this has really given him a boost, it's brilliant."
Singer Tom Fletcher said: "It really makes us feel like we're doing something worthwhile, getting to meet the fans and see their faces, to see how happy you're making people."
Drummer Harry Judd added: "It really brings you back down to earth."
